Into to Automotive Technology (1 credit)                          Elective 9-10
1 hour

A hands-on class where students will spend time studying the fundamentals of how the automobile works. This course is for students who are planning a career in the automobile, truck or heavy equipment repair industry. Students taking this course will be expected to wear proper work clothes and safety eye protection at all times. 

Advanced Automotive Technology (2 credits)                 Elective 10-12

The automotive course is broken up into lab time and classroom time. The areas covered will help a student become more independent with his/her own auto repairs. The basics of repair and maintenance will be discussed. This course focuses on employability skills, manuals and data, tools, batteries and electrical systems, tires, lubrication, ignition systems, cooling systems, disc brakes, drum brakes, steering and suspensions, and fuel systems. This course will help prepare students for a career in the automotive trade.

Intro to Culinary (1 credit)                                                  Elective 9-10

Students will gain the general understanding on how to cook at home and what to expect to see in the hospitality industry.


Culinary Arts (2 credits)                                                     Elective 11-12

This course is an introduction to the professional kitchen. Students will explore the history of the professional kitchen and its organization. An overview of food safety and sanitation, nutrition, menu and recipes, kitchen staples and equipment identification, and kitchen equipment use will be presented. Skills development will include knife skills, basic cooking methods and techniques, and calculation of recipe conversions, total recipe cost, and cost per portion.

Graphic Design(Digital Media) (2 credits)                       Elective 11-12

Graphic design is a class that includes creativity, art, technology, animation, design, website creation and industry certifications all in one course! You'll get to use the Adobe software Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Animate, and Dreamweaver in this 2- hour CTE class. Plus you'll be able to use cutting edge technology in our lab with our Wacom tablets!

Business Software Solutions (1 credit)                          Elective 10-12
1 hour

This class will prepare you for the multimedia-rich workplace by teaching you multimedia concepts as well as business-standard software applications. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to earn industry recognized certifications in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Business Communication in this 1 hour CTE class.

CISCO (2 credits)                                                            Elective 11-12

The CISCO Academy is an alliance between CISCO Systems, Academy curriculum sponsors, private institutions, education, business, government, and communities. This program trains students to build and maintain network systems and prepares them for the demands and opportunities of the information economy. Students who successfully complete this program and their Certified CISCO Network Academy (CCNA) certification will be on their way to a high tech career in network administration.

Sports Medicine (2 credits)                                          Elective 11-12

The Sports Medicine programs assist students in career exploration and a mastery of basic injury care skills. The course provides students with a combination of classroom instruction and clinical experience that leads to career exploration in various sports medicine fields. Students learn the skills needed to provide basic injury care skills in their area of interest.

Cosmetology (2 credits)                                                  Elective 11-12

This certified program is regulated by the Michigan State Board of Cosmetology and meets the required 1500 hours of classroom and clinic floor experience. Students may enroll in the program during their junior or senior year of high school; however, students are encouraged to enroll as juniors so they will have time to complete the entire program during high school.

The cosmetology program trains students in the theory and practical aspects of cosmetology. The goal is to prepare students for immediate employment opportunities with special emphasis placed on enhancing technical skills with practical communication and people skills. The course is designed to help students develop proper habits in sanitation, health, and safety in the practice of cosmetology. A positive attitude and ethical business practices are emphasized throughout the course.
